Privacy Policy

This is our privacy and security policy for the High Credit Score Programme (which we call the "Scheme" in this policy).

Our aim

We understand how important privacy is to our members. We have created this online "Privacy and Security Policy" to reassure you of our commitment to protecting privacy and providing a secure and enjoyable member experience.

Our aim is to adhere to policies that prevent unauthorised use of your personal information; to maintain the accuracy of the information provided; and to protect the privacy of your information through the use of secure servers and encryption devices. The intent of this statement is to answer your questions about our online privacy and security policy.

Please note that we comply with the Data Protection Act 1998 and have notified the Information Commissioner of the purpose for which we use data.

What information is collected?

We gather two types of information.

The first type of information is the personally identifiable information ("Personal Information") that you expressly provide when you enrol as a member and when you use the services in the Scheme. This information includes (without limitation) your name, postal address, e-mail address, and date of birth or some other unique personal identifier that we can use to confirm sales or billing information (e.g. city of birth or mother's maiden name). Occasionally, we may request other information from you that may be used to confirm enrolment or update your account. From time to time, we may also offer you optional surveys that may ask you for your opinions or demographic data (e.g. age and gender) so that we can improve our Scheme and Benefits.
The second type of information is technical and statistical information ("Statistical Information") that is collected automatically whenever you visit the web site or web pages associated with the Scheme ("Website"). This type of information may include things such as your IP address, operating system, type of browser and Website activity. We collect this data to help us improve the quality of our Website and make your visits to the Website easy, convenient and meaningful.

Who is collecting the information?

The Website and the Scheme is marketed by Adaptive Affinity Limited, a leading marketing solutions company registered in England.
The Website is operated by Adaptive Affinity Limited.
The Scheme is operated by:
  • Adaptive Affinity Limited; and
  • Callcredit Limited. Callcredit Limited is a member of the Skipton Group of companies and was established in 2001 by Skipton Building Society, one of the UK's largest building societies. Callcredit is committed to the responsible, secure and safe management of consumer data for the purpose of credit referencing, credit scoring and providing electronic proof of identity. They have their own privacy policy which is available here.

Personal Information which we collect about you may have been provided by you or may have been provided to us by one of our contracted marketing partners ("Partners") through whom you may have entered the scheme (and to whom you will have provided that Personal Information under the Partner’s own privacy policy). Therefore, Personal Information (or Statistical Information) collected is owned by Adaptive Affinity Limited and/or its Partners (depending on who offered you membership into the Scheme and how you enrolled and what Personal Information you may have given either of us).

How do we use the information collected?
  • Personal information
Adaptive Affinity Limited uses Personal Information to service your membership. For example, your postal address is used so we know where to send the vouchers, gift cards and other benefits that you may purchase from benefits providers. We also may send you additional membership information such as updates about our Scheme and special offers. By way of another example, we use your credit card information to bill you for the membership fees. Another example: We may use your e-mail address to notify you of Scheme updates, special offers and promotions. (If you prefer not to receive e-mail notifications from us, you can change, modify or update your member information simply by sending us an e-mail from the "Contact" page of the Website. You can choose at any time to inform us of your E-mail preferences by simply going to the "Contact" page once you have logged in with your membership ID number. On the "Contact" page you can indicate what offers you are not interested in receiving.)
Adaptive Affinity Limited and Callcredit Limited also collect information which will help Callcredit Limited to verify your identity, such as email addresses, usernames and passwords, along with other personal information which Callcredit Limited will need in order to provide you with a copy of your credit file or credit score (if applicable). This will include, for example, your name, date of birth, your residential address and postcode. This information will be checked against external databases, such as the electoral roll and your credit file, to which Callcredit Limited has access for this purpose. Callcredit Limited (but not Adaptive Affinity Limited) will collect and store a record of the check as well as any additional information you provide, including (but not limited to) aliases, previous addresses and financial associations. Callcredit Limited may disclose this information to authorised third parties through its credit referencing, fraud prevention and identification products.
Occasionally Callcredit Limited may also ask you to provide documentation for the purpose of verifying your identity, such as utility bills or bank statements (and you should see Callcredit Limited’s privacy policy regarding this, available here. Callcredit Limited will only request this information when it needs to verify your current address. Any documentation is stored securely, and will be destroyed once verification is complete.
If false or inaccurate information is provided and fraud is identified, details will be passed to fraud prevention agencies to prevent fraud and money laundering. Further details explaining how the information held by fraud prevention agencies may be used can be obtained – and you should see Callcredit Limited’s privacy policy for details of this.
  • Statistical Information
We use the Statistical Information that is automatically collected from your computer whenever you visit the Website, to help us improve the Website and the member experience. From time to time we may disclose general statistical information about our Website and its visitors such as the number of visitors, the number and type of products purchased, etc.

How do I change/modify my information?

You can change, modify or update your member information simply by sending us an e-mail from the "Contact" page of the Website. You can choose at any time to inform us of your E-mail preferences by simply going to the "Contact" page once you have logged in with your membership ID number. On the "Contact" page you can indicate what offers you are not interested in receiving.

Do you share personal information with third parties?

All information that is collected may also be shared with our Partners and within Adaptive Affinity Limited’s group of companies which are within the UK and the United States of America. Their use of that information will be governed by their own privacy policies (but in respect of any information transferred out of the EU, we will only transfer to any company who provides adequate safeguards for it).

All information that is collected may also be shared with Callcredit Limited whose use of that information will be governed by its own privacy policies.

We may also share Personal Information with third parties who we employ to perform functions on our behalf. For example, we use a third party to verify and process your credit card information in order to bill you. All third parties are contractually obligated to use your Personal Information only for the purpose for which it is given.

From time to time, we may share Personal Information with our affiliates and/or partners who are offering programmes or benefits that we think will be of interest to you. By clicking "YES" on the offer page for the Scheme, you agree that we may share Personal Information with our affiliates and/or partners for this purpose. However, if you prefer not to have your personal information shared with our affiliates or partners in this way, please indicate what offers you are not interested in on the E-mail Preferences page once you have logged in with your membership ID number. If you are enrolling online, you may also opt-out of receiving e-mails from third parties outside of our group of companies by deselecting the check box on the enrolment page.

We may also disclose your Personal Information when required by law or in the good-faith belief that such action is necessary in order to conform to the law or other legal obligations or processes.

As we continue to develop our business, we may buy or sell assets. In such transactions, customer information generally is one of the transferred business assets. Also, in the unlikely event that our company or substantially all of its assets are acquired, customer information will of course be one of the transferred assets. In the event that customer information is transferred as described in this paragraph, members will be notified via e-mail and given the opportunity to opt-out of having their personal information transferred to any new entity.

We will not disclose your personal information to anyone other than those parties set out within this policy without your consent.

What are Cookies and how do you use them?

"Cookies" are helpful pieces of information about you that a web site places on your hard disk. Cookies can make your return visits to the Website more convenient. They are used to do the "record keeping" that allows a computer to remember who you are when you visit the site. Cookies may be required to use the Website and the Scheme; and will certainly make your online experience more personal and more enjoyable.

If you wish, you can usually adjust your browser so that your computer does not accept Cookies – but if you do this, you will not be able to use the Website and the Scheme properly. Alternatively you can adjust your browser to tell you when a website tries to put a Cookie on your computer. How you adjust your browser to deal with Cookies in these different ways will depend on the type of Internet browser programme your computer uses and you should refer to your browser instructions or help screen to learn more about these functions.
Your browser also generates other information, including your IP address. An IP address is a set of alphanumerical characters, which is assigned to your computer during a browsing session whenever you log on to the Internet. Your IP address is automatically logged by our servers and used to collect traffic data about visitors to our Website. We do not use your IP address to identify you personally.

How do you secure member information?

We work to protect the security of your Personal Information during transmission by using Secure Socket Layer (SSL). When you place an order online, the SSL scrambles or encrypts your information before it is sent to us over the Internet. This protects your credit card information from being read while it is transferred through cyberspace. When we receive the information, the information is kept encrypted until we are ready to process your request. SSL is supported by Microsoft IE 3.0+ and most frame-enabled browsers. You will see a small key or padlock in the bottom right corner of your browser if you are using Netscape or Microsoft browsers, indicating that your transaction is secure. In addition, we meet all of the stringent requirements of the VerisignTM security seal for all online transactions.

Internal access to member information is protected and can only be accessed by password. We also contract with industry experts to institute and review web security on a periodic basis.

Do these same policies apply to third party web sites that I access through the Scheme?

No. The Privacy and Security Policy appearing on our Website relates to the Scheme only. You will notice that our Website may contain links to other sites such as our benefit providers and Callcredit Limited. We cannot be responsible for the privacy and security practices of other web sites that you may access through our Website, even if displayed within a frame on our Website. As an online consumer, you should always review a particular site's privacy and security policies when linking to that site before revealing any personal information to that web site.

Your Rights to see your personal data

You have the right to see the personal data (as defined in the Data Protection Act 1998) that we keep about you, on receipt of a written request, verification of your identity, and payment of a fee. If you are concerned that any of the personal information we hold on you is incorrect, please contact us as set out in the "How do I contact you?" section below.

How do you update your Privacy and Security Policy?

We will notify you if there is a material change in our privacy practices. We will take commercially reasonable measures to obtain written or active e-mail consent from a member if we are going to be using the information collected from the member in a manner different from that stated at the time of collection. We will also post the changes in our Privacy and Security Policy prior to a change. We urge you to check the Privacy and Security Policy regularly to obtain the most up to date copy. Updated versions of our Privacy and Security Policy will be effective immediately when they are posted on the Website.
